"Trust over Fear

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE
'Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is kept safe'
(Proverbs 29:25, NIV)

TODAY'S WORD from Joel and Victoria
Fear is one of the enemy's favorite tools to keep us from going forward in our lives. As soon as we make a decision to step out in faith and do what God is telling us to do, immediately the enemy will bring fear. He'll put thoughts in your mind like, 'What if I fail? What will others think? Maybe I don't have what it takes.' He'll do his best to use fear to try to convince you to shrink back and just stay right where you are.
The Bible tells us that fear is a spirit. It affects your emotions. But when you choose to put your trust in the Lord, no matter how you are feeling, you are combating fear.
Today, I encourage you, don't allow fear to trap you and hold you back. Instead, take a step of faith knowing that God is on your side. He is for you and with you, leading and guiding you in the path of victory all the days of your life!

A PRAYER FOR TODAY
'Heavenly Father, I choose to put my trust in You. I choose to press forward and overcome fear. I believe You have my best interest at heart and know that You are leading me in the paths of righteousness all the days of my life. In Jesus' Name. Amen.'"

Twist out ...4 month loc'd

Ok ... yes I tried it. Not intentionally though, I did not braid but 4 row loose (ish twists) before going to sleep, and this is the result. The webcam I use to take my pics is a bit temperamental ..

... So excuse the quality ;) Tomorrow is the 4th month, looking forward to the future.

God–Given Dreams

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE
'A man's mind plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps and makes them sure'
(Proverbs 16:9, AMP)

TODAY'S WORD from Joel and Victoria (Osteen)

Oftentimes as children, we have dreams of the future. Dreams of being ball players and actresses, super heroes, and firemen. But most of the time, they end up just being wishful thinking. As we get older, we grow out of them. It's good to play and have dreams as children, but when we grow up, we have to know the difference between a God-given dream and a wish. I remember when I was a little boy, I dreamed of playing basketball for the Houston Rockets. That was definitely a fantasy!
But we all have dreams placed inside of us by the Creator of the Universe. In fact, the Latin word for 'desire' means 'from the Father.' You can tell if a dream is really from God if that desire won't go away. You may have had it for years, and you still can't let it go. In fact, you may have tried to let it go, but it won't let go of you.
I encourage you to search your heart today and allow those God–given dreams to surface. He placed those desires inside of you for a purpose, and He's going to use them to direct you into the destiny He has in store for you!

A PRAYER FOR TODAY
'Father in heaven, thank You for the dreams and desires You've placed within me. I submit those dreams to You and ask that You direct my steps. Search my heart and make my thoughts agreeable to Your Word and to Your plan. In Jesus' Name. Amen.'"

4 months ... well nearly! 119 days and counting.

Hi all,
Thought about waiting until the 28th before blogging, however I am off tomorrow and thought I would take the opportunity tonight to update. Have added some pics for emphasis.

Firstly, I need to say that I have never been the one to play around with my hair. Messy and easy have always been my way, what do they call it .... erm Bed head?! LOL!
Polite people seem to call it freestyle. Well thats me and it suits my personality perfectly, wild and free! ;). So at the moment you will not find much rolling, braiding and other stuff going on here.
I am truly a natural girl at heart and apart from playing about a bit (like SOulBeing on you tube...) I pretty much spritz/shower steam and go. Thats the way I like it. No fuss. There will be time for all that later on, right now I am enjoying the moment, the freedom and the true beauty of a natural haired Black Woman ...ME! So as you can see I am happy, simply happy to be natural and free.
Rebel!

I need to confess my need to rebel against the rules (or at least to think about it!) Whats your problem? I hear you ask ... I WANT TO WASH MY HAIR, No I NEED to wash my hair, no its not itchy, no dry scalp , it's not dirty ... there is no real issue ... I JUST WANT TO cos I just DO! I think it is a vital way to relieve stress, the massaging and stimulating of the scalp, it has an amazing effect on me.
I thought I would rant about it first though ... don't worry ...I am not about to undo the progress of 4 months... delayed gratification is my other second name!
One thing I have to accept about my hair is that it is very springy (coily) and reacts to the slightest amount of water, my growth is not as obvious as some because of it, however the body of my curls are defined, thickening and my head is clearly loc'ing up! The end buds do not seem to stay though and shed easily. Time and chance happen to all things ...

My skin

As mentioned before I am a natural lover, in all areas, my speciality was once beauty therapy, I qualified in massage and make up and beauty treatments, but much preffered the holistic approach, like a good healthy diet and natural skincare products. This is mainly due to the sensitive nature of my skin. Even slight make up (foundation, soap, bubble bath etc) has been guilty of aggravating my skin.

I am going to make a statement some of you will take and some will leave.

After months of asking God to heal my skin (acne and heat rash) or at least, help me to identify the problem. I was lead to African Black Soap (was considering using it as a shampoo, in fact that is the main reason I purchased it!)... However, I inadvertantly found it when browsing blogs, while deciding to get sister locks, in fact if I go back and check my blog list on another computer, I may be able to identify the lady who sells it.

Any way I find it profound how the two went together hand in hand, ( the hair and skin being healed ... hmm) ...

I ALWAYS attribute every good thing in my life to God and his direction, I am a firm believer that He directs me in every area of my life, major or minor, and it is no coincidence that I am blessed by choosing this road. I even wonder if my skin could have been reacting to the weave hair all those years ... something to think about ... deliverance is a great thing ...

THANK YOU JESUS!

WRITE THE VISION!

"

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE
'…Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it'
(Habakkuk 2:2, ESV)

TODAY'S WORD from Joel and Victoria
Most businesses today have a mission statement that talks about the purpose of the company. In life, every person should also have their own mission statement. What's your purpose? What are you dreaming about? What are your goals? How are you going to use your talents and abilities? Many people have an idea about where they are headed in life, but something supernatural happens when you write down your vision and make a plan. There's a resolve that takes place on the inside of you. No longer is that thing just a dream, but now it's something you can look at every day. The people around you can see it, too. You never know how God is going to use someone in your life to help you get to where you need to be. If they can see your vision, then they can run with it!
I want to encourage you, don't just vaguely live day to day. Make the decision to write down the dreams and visions you have in your heart. Submit your plans to the Lord and watch what He will do to bring them to pass.

A PRAYER FOR TODAY
'Father God, thank You for the dreams and desires You’ve placed in my heart. Direct my steps. Fill me with Your peace. Show me the purpose and plan You have for me so that I can make them clear. In Jesus' Name. Amen.'"

My 4th retightening, 3 1/2 months ... 110 days ... ;)

Loving this loc journey ... soo much.

Had a long day at work yesterday, but at 3.15pm I escaped and drove 10 mins to my consultants home for a retight. Her eldest daughter is a trainee and did my last 2 retights. We had a laugh! They were soo funny, was in stitches of laughter at the stories they told. I do not normally do the hairdresser thing on a work night but this is different. the whole experience is so refreshing. For me, this is because it is my natural hair state and I am loving the progress and the results.

Tenderness...Soft in the head?

I must say that the retightening is painful to me, well on the right hand side anyway. ( I will find out for sure what side of the brain that is i.e logic or emotion :) ) My head was soo tender I felt like a little girl all over again, I had to beg Celeste to be careful ... and she was soo gentle ... smile. Guess I am feeling a bit more delicate than usual ...

There is definate clear evidence of thickening and growth. Pics added. What do you think? please leave a constructive comment, especially going out to my followers :).Having read some of the other blogs (blog following is a full time job! LOL!) I am considering learning to retight myself. I do have the time to spare at the moment. I intend to speak to Liz about this soon.
Well I had my monthly hair wash last night, and yes sadly, it was the highlight of my night!Liz said NO! I could not wash my hair any more frequently because it was still too soft! I had cut down on the spritzing with water because I felt that was the reason for my slippage, but she adviced me that it helped to loc faster ... ho hum! Some people can't have any fun! I LOVE washing my hair, I find it very therapeutic, relaxes my mind and helps me sleep better I love water ...
Last word about Black Soap, loving the results, my skin is smoother clearer and softer than it has been for the last 2 years.! Thanking God!
